This is an ADSL1 modem. All ADSL 1 modems will connect to an ADSL2 connection at around 8000/800 speed (the max speed of ADSL1). Can download at nearly 800kilobytes per second.
Hold button on front to switch off, click once to switch on.

4 lights on top. @ symbol is the line sync light. 3 or 4 green lights is good.
@ flashing orange means "synchronising"
@ solid orange means line is synchronised, ADSL works
@ flashing green means account being verified with ISP, authorising details etc
@ solid green means everything is connected, internet will work.
Solid Orange power symbol means modem is turning on
Flashing Green Power Symbol means modem works and is loading it's own software..
4 pronged rake symbol is Ethernet Connection.
3 pronged symbol is USB connection
Plug in via Ethernet Cable (4 pronged symbol on the back) instead of USB (3 pronged symbol) if you can. 1 meter Ethernet cables are $2 including postage on eBay. USB A-B cable (USB A to B cable) around $6 on eBay.
DSL plug is where your phone cable plug goes.
